BECAUSE IT'S YOU?

VIDEO ART

Duration: 4.55 min (one of 5 video from the series Because it's you?)

“When did you behave or react to someone/something, but you didn’t feel like yourself?”

"What behaviours / characters do you see in yourself that you do not manifest outwardly, or only manifest rarely?”

Viktória Heiser's video series "Because it's you?" focuses on these two, and related questions. In her video works, Heiser embodies the stories of individuals who have agreed to address her questions. Here, the participants melt into anonymity and are portrayed by Heiser herself. At the centre of her exploration, however, is always the question: " Who aren't I?", which has emerged as a counter-question to "Who am I?" in order to ultimately decode this pathos-bearing question.
